Update:  February 2010 -- Emoto Bali has closed its Kuta showroom.   However, Roberto and his team recently managed to upgrade one bike, capable of sixty kilometers per hour and with a seventy-five kilometer real tested range,  sporting ten batteries supplying a total of 60 volts and 1200 watts.  He remains in Bali, continuing to spread his enthusiasm for e-bikes.  Original article follows.

Bali's big moment has finally arrived.

With a commitment to serving and expanding the e-bike market on the Indonesian islands of Bali and Lombok, PT Eco Bali has opened a new dealership in Kuta, Bali, offering a full range of Emoto brand bikes.

Emoto bikes are assembled in Jakarta from Chinese and domestic components by PT Honoris Industry, a division of the larger group PT Modern International.

The constructive attitude of PT Eco Bali toward Bali's e-bike market is evident in its commitment to customer satisfaction.

For example, at the Emoto dealership in Kuta, the company offers support for all brands of e-bikes, with both a suitable workshop and assistance locating spare parts.

Further, says Roberto Jerez of PT Eco Bali, "Our policy is to act as openly and fairly as possible with regard to customers, as an alternative to the current situation in which big brands make more money on maintenance and service than on the sales themselves."

With its customers and Bali's hilly topography in mind, PT Eco Bali is nearly ready with a modification kit for the bike and charger that will add a fifth battery.  Normal range will increase to fifty kilometers and customers will enjoy extra power on hills.

Like much else in Indonesia, the price of this modification is surprisingly low by Western standards -- only 500,000 Indonesian Rupiah, or about 52 US Dollars.

With a new website at http://www.emotobali.com, brochures, and its dealership at Jalan Raya Kuta 18, PT Eco Bali is focused on spreading the word, and, according to Roberto Jerez, "working for a common good."

Jerez notes, "... we think there is no competition when it comes to electric and hope every brand increases in sales for the benefit of all."

See below for more Emoto photos as well as pricing and brochures.

We look forward to snapping many photos of Emotos on the roads of Bali and Lombok soon!
